Dear friends of kindergarten: We have transformed the Salsa Garden! Months of open-ended play in the sand box and nature play under the mulberry tree inspired kindergartners to remove the fencing and gate ("We want all living creatures and fairies to come to our garden!"), dig a trench for a rainwater creek ("Living things need water and food and shelter!") and install a simple hand-painted plank and rope bridge ("We need someway to get across the creek when it's full of water!). Stay tuned to our blog for updates throughout the summer season. Meanwhile, enjoy our photostory in the slideshow on the right titled "Gardening with Kindergarten." We are so excited for our pre-kindergarten friends to enjoy this garden next year when they are kindergartners. In the meantime, we hope Scamp and Pearl (the cotton-tail rabbits born in the Salsa Garden in spring 2010) will have fun hopping across the bridge and playing among the vegetable plants!
