Kindergarten Keepsake Box Day June 8, 2011

A beloved tradition in kindergarten is the year-end celebration of the effort and achievement of every kindergarten child with their parents. In weeks leading up to Kindergarten Keepsake Box Day children begin preparing for the end of school with end-of-the-year projects, Meetings for Community, a visit to first grade, and an invitation to create a portfolio of all the work saved from the year. In freshly-painted pizza boxes kindergartners packed up their handwriting books, story journals, counting boxes, cooperative play name clips, art work, special projects, photos, and thematic studies keepsakes and shared their collections with their parents on June 8 (which happened to be the hottest day of the year with the thermometer in the 90's!). It was a great day to cool off with mango and strawberry-lemonade water ice! Parents, thank you for joining our celebration today!
